SM MOA Arena: A True Home for Inclusion
For almost ten years, the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena has served not only as a top-tier events venue but also as a community space for thousands of individuals on the autism spectrum.
Since 2014, the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) has hosted the Angels Walk for Autism at the SM MOA Arena, co-presented with SM Cares. This annual event unites families, advocates, and communities in a collective call for a more inclusive future, where individuals on the autism spectrum are fully accepted, accommodated, and appreciated.
As one of the country’s premier indoor venues for concerts, sports, and large-scale events, the SM MOA Arena has been recognized for its inclusive design and accessibility. It features:
- Wheelchair-accessible entrances, seating, and restrooms
- Elevators and ramps for ease of mobility
- Trained staff to assist persons with disabilities (PWDs)
- Sensory-sensitive signage and spaces, ensuring comfort for all
SM MOA Arena has been officially recognized by the Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled Inc. (PFRD) as a PWD-friendly venue, affirming its role as a model of accessibility in public spaces.
More than just its infrastructure, SM MOA Arena serves as a meaningful space where diverse communities feel seen and supported, exemplifying how thoughtful design and inclusive programming can empower these communities.
Its ongoing partnership with ASP embodies a shared vision of a society that uplifts every individual, ensuring inclusivity for all.
