Vagabond Kitchen

Wheeling, West Virginia

In the heart of the Northern Panhandle town of Wheeling, Vagabond Kitchen takes Appalachian cuisine to another level. Using fresh, seasonal ingredients is a top priority, which means you can try a variety of dishes – no matter what month the calendar shows. Try signature dishes, such as the Dew It Chicken, Cedar Plank Trout and Smoked Rabbit Cornbread Casserole.

Von Blaze

Morgantown, West Virginia

Morgantown is the epicenter of Mountaineer Country, which means you can expect a hearty meal from a new local favorite – Von Blaze. This little dining spot started off as a food truck in 2021 and has since found a permanent home in town. Von Blaze serves unique twists on traditional American food and is known for their signature chicken drumsticks, burgers, hand-cut fries, soups and salads.

Cham’s Lebanese Cuisine

Parkersburg, West Virginia

If you’d like to send your tastebuds across the pond without leaving the Mid-Ohio Valley, Cham’s Lebanese Cuisine is your ticket. Parkersburg is a small town, but this restaurant’s house-made pita wraps, hummus and stews pack big flavors. Stop by Cham’s during week days as they are closed on the weekends.

1010 Bridge Restaurant & Catering

Charleston, West Virginia

1010 Bridge Restaurant & Catering has roots in Appalachian culture with a menu inspired by local farms and businesses. 1010 Bridge is a staple dining spot in the Metro Valley city of Charleston. Along with modern seasonal dishes, you can sip on craft beer and wine.

The Broken Axle

Lyburn, West Virginia

Between the Appalachian Mountains of Lyburn, you will find The Broken Axle. This Logan County staple serves up all the American favorites like burgers, wings, wraps, flatbreads, sandwiches and salads. Come during Happy Hour, and you can enjoy 20 drinks on tap at half-price. Keep an eye out for their daily specials, and try out their Grilled Cheese Platter.

Cathedral Cafe

Fayetteville, West Virginia

Instead of seeing rows of pews and a pulpit, you will find tables and chairs fit for Fayetteville’s best flavors. Cathedral Cafe is an old cathedral that was converted to a dining destination. Your time in the New River-Greenbrier Valley won’t be complete without trying their all-day breakfast, paninis, quesadillas and salads. After you’ve finished dining, take a trip upstairs and explore the mini gift shop.

Pizzas and Cream

Nebo, West Virginia

in the Mountain Lakes region, Pizzas and Cream has some of West Virginia’s best wood-fired pizza and fresh frozen desserts. Build your own wood-fired brick oven pizzas with premium toppings, and choose from more than 20 specialty pizzas. If you’re in the mood for something sweet and savory, you will be obsessed with their selection of gourmet ice cream flavors, Italian ice, cream ice and gelatos.

The Peddler

Huntington, West Virginia

Sink your teeth into some of the best local food, which is all made fresh in-house at The Peddler in Huntington. You can choose from a wide selection of sandwiches, burgers, mac-n-cheese, soups and even house-made pepperoni rolls. If you save enough room for dessert, the Beer Battered Oreos are a must-try. This American restaurant is also a brewery and and arcade, which wins the hearts of just about everybody who walks through the door.

The Press Room

Shepherdstown, West Virginia

When visiting the Eastern Panhandle, The Press Room in Shepherdstown should be at the top of your culinary checklist. Choose from an array of entrees including grilled salmon, duck, chicken, lamb, steak and much more. You should also consider ordering their pasta dishes, soups, salads and dessert.
