Take in some of the most breathtaking views of Almost Heaven as you tour the treetops with Pipestem Peaks Zipline Tours. The Tour begins at the top of the Canyon Rim Center and works its way down to the bottom of Bluestone Gorge. The zip line trip consists of nine different zip lines, a cable bridge and a belay system – which lasts about 3.5 hours and ends at Mountain Creek Lodge. This post was originally published on this sitePhotography & Art at the Rock: Featuring Stephanie Irwin Anonymous (not verified) Tue, 08/20/2024 – 12:25 Photography & Art at the Rock, a monthly exhibit in the lobby of the Split Rock Lighthouse Visitor Center that showcases local artists, landscape and wildlife photographers of the area. For the month of September our featured photographer is Stephanie Irwin. Stephanie is a hobbyist maritime and landscape photographer who has called Duluth, Minnesota, home since moving here in the fall of 2020. Prior to this, Stephanie lived all of her life in Michigan, having grown up in Frankenmuth, a small, popular Bavarian tourist town. She went on to pursue undergraduate degrees in English Literature and Biology at Hope College in Holland, MI, before attending medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed residency training in Internal Medicine at University of Michigan and subsequently completed subspecialty training in Gastroenterology at Wayne State University. Both Stephanie and her husband, Brad, are full time gastroenterologists. Her love of the outdoors, the Great Lakes, and the maritime industry started at a young age while her family spent summers boating in Charlevoix, MI, which is a small town

In two different scenes encompassing 1870-1970, audiences witness many stories of struggle for women’s civil and voting rights. The Ladies’ Business” (1 pm) is set in post-Civil War Forestville, MN. Audiences meet Forestville’s Mrs. Felix Meighan, as well as a woman doctor, an abolitionist, suffragist Sarah Stearns, the publisher Bella French and Snana, an indigenous Dakota war survivor. “Votes for Women Rally 1920” (3 pm) includes two generations of suffragists: 1920-1970. Meet Scandinavians Nellie Mattson Jaeger and Bertha Moller (one of MN’s force-fed suffragists), Nellie Francis- founder of our black suffrage group, indigenous lawyer Marie Bottineau Baldwin. The show also celebrates the centennial of indigenous suffrage in 2024. History Alive Lanesboro invites audience participation. The show ends with a discussion led by League of Women Voters members.
