Review: Windstar’s Star Legend cruises Southern Spain – Days 5 to 8

This post was originally published on this siteWindstar‘s Star Legend threads her way through the Mediterranean, sailing through time itself. Millennia of Phoenician legends, Roman roads, Moorish courtyards and Spanish crowns as we cruise from Malaga to Barcelona. Windstar deliver warm and intimate luxury. A small ship journey that begins amongst Málaga’s palms and Picassos, pauses at Gibraltar’s improbable outcrop of red postboxes and Barbary Apes, then drifts towards Cartagena, Valencia, Mallorca and, finally, Barcelona. Each evening, as cocktail ice clinks, Bianca, the destinations manager, offers tempting promises of what lies ahead: epic architecture, local cuisine that tells history’s stories and the culture that runs through Southern Spain’s civilisation. Day 5 – Valencia As first-time visitors, we choose the highlights tour. Others are drawn instead to the kitchen, a masterclass in the original Valencian paella. Chicken and rabbit, not a prawn in sight. They gather herbs and vegetables from a finca garden, then focus on the sacred moment of socarrat: caramelising rice into a crisp irresistible layer.  Valencia thinks boldly. After the devastating floods of 1957, the River Túria was redirected east, and in its old riverbed the city planted a dream of tomorrow. The City of Arts and Sciences rises there now.

How to use the Chase Sapphire Reserve $300 annual travel credit to save on travel

This post was originally published on this siteEditor’s note: This is a recurring post, regularly updated with new information and offers. Amid multiple changes to the [applyLink pid=”221211836″ overridetext=”Chase Sapphire Reserve®”] (see [termsConditions pid=”221211836″ overridetext=”rates and fees”]) in its recent refresh, a marquee benefit remained unchanged: its $300 annual travel credit. Unlike similar perks on competing cards, this credit is incredibly easy to use for all sorts of travel. The Chase Sapphire Reserve charges a $795 annual fee. But if you spend at least $300 per year on travel, the effective annual fee becomes more palatable. This annual credit is in addition to other Sapphire Reserve perks, such as Chase Sapphire Lounge access and a Priority Pass membership, a biannual credit to use toward The Edit (minimum two-night stay required), Chase’s premium collection of more than 1,000 properties bookable via Chase Travel℠, and multiple lifestyle credits, all of which help offset the high annual fee. So, how exactly do you use the Sapphire Reserve’s travel credit? Thankfully, it’s really, really easy. The (sort of) bad news? It’s so simple and automatic that you may use the credit before you even realize it. When do you earn the $300 Chase Sapphire

Shoes stay on? TSA could soon roll back its longtime policy

This post was originally published on this sitePassengers departing from some U.S. airports may soon be able to leave their shoes on at security checkpoints — whether they have TSA PreCheck access or not. The Transportation Security Administration is beginning to phase out its long-standing policy that required most travelers to remove their shoes for security screening, multiple outlets reported, citing sources briefed on the matter. The change would reportedly begin at a select number of airports. The TSA has not officially announced the change. Asked by TPG on Monday, a spokesperson did not confirm — or deny — a shift on the agency’s shoes-off policy is in the works, noting that it’s “always exploring new and innovative ways to enhance the passenger experience and our strong security posture.” “Any potential updates to our security process will be issued through official channels,” the agency added. Read more: We went through security at airports across the country on Day 1 of Real ID: What you can expect The TSA has required most passengers to remove their shoes for screening since August 2006, as a way to better screen for explosives. Concerns about the security threat of passenger footwear largely date back

How to maximize award redemptions with the IHG One Rewards program

This post was originally published on this siteEditor’s note: This is a recurring post, regularly updated with new information and offers. IHG One Rewards isn’t as well-loved in the points and miles community as programs like Hilton Honors and World of Hyatt. But IHG hotels and resorts are available in many destinations, and it’s easy to get good value when redeeming IHG points. Earning IHG points is also relatively easy. For example, new [applyLink pid=”6799″ overridetext=”IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card”] (see [termsConditions pid=”6799″ overridetext=”rates and fees”]) applicants can earn 120,000 bonus points after spending $2,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening when they apply by July 23. And new applicants for the [applyLink pid=”6153″ overridetext=”IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card”] (see [termsConditions pid=”6153″ overridetext=”rates and fees”]) can earn five free nights (each night valued at up to 60,000 points) after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening when they apply by July 23. Let’s discuss how to maximize IHG One Rewards redemptions. Calculate your IHG redemption rate IHG uses dynamic award pricing. This means the number of points you’ll need to redeem for a stay varies based on your booking

Amex adds Amsterdam to growing network of Centurion Lounges

This post was originally published on this siteAmerican Express is once again flexing its muscle as the leader in credit card-branded airport lounges with yet another new location coming soon. This time, it’s Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), which will soon be home to a Centurion Lounge. Amex announced on Tuesday that it would open its 29th Centurion Lounge between Concourses E and F at AMS in 2026. The more you know: The best time to book flights for the cheapest airfare The issuer teased that the space will feature a Dutch-inspired design with art from local artists, along with floor-to-ceiling windows and locally inspired food and beverage options. In fact, Amex will offer a specially designed coffee bar that plays to the importance of coffee in Dutch culture and social gatherings. The issuer shared just one rendering of the new space, and from the looks of it, the outpost should feel quite premium and airy. AMERICAN EXPRESS Unfortunately, the lounge will only measure 6,000 square feet, making it not only one of the smallest in the network but also likely one of the busiest. After all, AMS is the fourth-busiest airport in Europe. This represents Amex’s second European location (after
