The month is full of fun and exciting events in Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown areas. Whether you’re searching for family-friendly events, food and drink events, live music or free festivals, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. July 4: Independence Day in Yorktown
Independence Day in Yorktown is a free family-friendly celebration featuring a full lineup of events leading up to the big fireworks finale! The morning starts at 8 a.m. with an 8K Run and 5K Walk followed by a patriotic parade along Water and Main Streets. Evening activities include a bell-ringing ceremony, patriotic concert, and an amazing firework display over the York River.
July 4: Lights of Freedom
A special event Lights of Freedom, prelude the thrilling Fourth of July Fireworks display, our holiday programming concludes with a celebration of the words and music of the American Revolution. Highlights include a reading of the Declaration of Independence, American marching music of the Revolution, and a patriotic sing-along culminating in a grand fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.
July 6: Yorktown Market Days
Spring has sprung at Yorktown Market Days! Soak up the sunshine and rejuvenate your soul while shopping for seasonal goods from local vendors. You’ll love starting off your Saturday browsing delicious baked goods, fresh-cut flowers, handmade soaps and candles, impressive artwork, and much more from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Riverwalk Landing. Live music at select markets adds to the ambiance at our awarding-winning market by the York River!
July 11, 18, 25: Sounds of Summer Concert Series
Yorktown’s Sounds of Summer concert series runs Thursday nights from 6:30 to 9 p.m. through August 10. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy dinner or dessert at any of Historic Yorktown’s waterfront restaurants including Water Street Grille, Carrot Tree, Umi Sushi, Ben & Jerry’s, and Yorktown Pub. Guests are permitted to bring their own blankets, chairs, and small coolers. No tables, umbrellas, or tents are allowed. There will be a dance floor, friendly games of cornhole, and to-go food from rotating food trucks available for purchase.
July 21: 2024 Cal Tri Williamsburg
Cal Tri Williamsburg triathlon returns to the shores of Jamestown Beach Park in historic Williamsburg. Flat and fast featuring the run primarily on the Virginia Capital Trail. On July 23 at Jamestown Beach Event Park, 14 events take place; 7 Olympic distance events (Triathlon, Triathlon Relay, RunBikeRun, SwimBike, SwimRun, 1640 Yard Swim & 10K Run) and 7 Sprint distance events (Triathlon, Triathlon Relay, RunBikeRun, SwimBike, SwimRun, 400 yard Swim & 5K Run). Triathlon = swim + bike + run. Triathlon Relay is 2 or 3 athletes combined to complete the triathlon. Typically, the swim and run distances are standard but the bike distance varies from race to race.
